Practice Lab is Chunky Move’s annual program offering participants a rare opportunity to engage in the practice and choreographic methodologies of Chunky Move Artistic Director, Antony Hamilton.

Hamilton’s broad experience as a dancer and choreographer has roots in classical ballet, post-modern contemporary dance, and street dance. He was appointed Chunky Move Artistic Director in 2019 and has since premiered critically lauded new works including 2019’s epic Token Armies and his two recent international hits 4/4 (2023) and U>N>I>T>E>D (2025).

Practice Lab is a week-long workshop intensive offering rare insight into Hamilton’s wide-ranging methodologies, including his notated counting systems, improvisational tools, voice exploration, dramaturgy, and choreography with objects.
