Leah Landau

Leah Landau is a choreographer and dancer based in Melbourne, working nationally and internationally. She is interested in experimental performance and outcomes.

Her most recent works include Romancer, presented at Lucy Guerin Inc. Pieces for Small Spaces program 2016 (Melbourne); The Sequel, presented as part of Darebin Arts Speakeasy Program 2016 (Melbourne) and The Sequel 2 for Room to Move at Dancehouse 2016 (Melbourne). Her research for Bad Performance Practice was presented at Indigo Dance Festival 2016 (PAF Performing Art Forum, France). Leah’s work has also been presented by PACT centre for emerging artists, KINGS ARI, This Is Not Art Festival Newcastle, and Arts House Hub for Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Leah has received Best Dance and Best Experimental Work awards by Melbourne Fringe Festival for her solo work Summer Bone, and nominated for Best Design (Green Room Award) for her collaboration with Lilian Steiner for BUNKER. She received an Ian Potter Travel Grant to travel to ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna, and residencies including Frontyard (Sydney), Arts House (Melbourne) and QL2 (Canberra).

Leah regularly performs in the work of other artists, recently including Ellen Soderhuit (SWE) and Roni Katz (GER) for Indigo Dance Festival France; Natalie Abbott for M Pavillion / Arts House / Schoolhouse Studios; Sheena Colquhuon’s (AUS) for West Space solo works; Amy Spiers and Catherine Ryan (AUS) for MONA FOMA, and Dewey Dell (ITL) for Next Wave Festival, among others. In 2017 Leah will work with Luke George (AUS) and perform for Rebecca Jensen (AUS) for Dance Massive.

Leah’s writing has been published as part of Dance Massive 2015 and Swedish Dance History Vol. 3. She co-produces Dance Speaks, a performance lecture series for dance artists in Melbourne and Sydney presented at various galleries, bars and studios.
