Time Remaining is the latest work by critically acclaimed Chunky Move Artistic Director Antony Hamilton. In collaboration with award winning technical designer Nick Roux (Pigeons – Speak Percussion, Desastres – Marco Fusinato, Dragon Ladies Don’t Weep – Chamber Made), and Nicholas Moloney (NEWRETRO – Lucy Guerin Inc, Escalate Throw Catch Collective, Cygnets – The Liminal Space, Yung Lung and U>N>I>T>E>D – Chunky Move), Time Remaining is a powerful work of integrated design that merges dance with new technology. 

In Time Remaining, a sculptural, meditative installation of scanning and tracking laser light complements Hamilton’s signature choreographic language, drawing evocative parallels between human bodies and contemporary machines. Motorised winches become choreographic agents as lasers and lights hover, float and descend in a precise geometric dialogue with the dancers. It is an atmospheric dance, mesmerising and menacing in its expression of insidious tech, quietly wiling around our every move. The work presents the archetype performer as an endangered figure in an ongoing contest with new technologies that tighten their grip on the world. The work’s restraint offers a striking new vision—both for long-time Chunky Move audiences and for those yet to discover one of Australia’s most celebrated and original dance companies.
