Celebrating International Dance Day at Chunky Move
To recognise the universality and power of our art every year International Dance Day is celebrated on April 29th. To mark this great occasion we came up with the top five best ways for you to celebrate today!
1) See a dance performance
What better way to celebrate dance than to see your favourite dancers performing on stage. Our evocative duet Common Ground is performed by Richard Cilli and Tara Jade Samaya and is a choreographic game of chess where engrained rules are upturned by unexpected moves. Book your tickets for performances up to 5 May here.
Stephanie Lake is presenting her new work Replica at Northcote Town Hall and you can catch this incredible performance on International Dance Day! Find out more and book tickets here.
2) Ask questions
Do you have a burning question that you’d love to ask our the team behind Common Ground?
Join performers Tara Jade Samaya and Richard Cilli, with Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk for our Q&A following the performance on 1 May, moderated by the Wheeler Centre’s Emily Sexton. This Q&A will answer your questions and give you all the insider details about how a new work is brought to life. Book here.
3) Get a sneak peek into the rehearsal process of Common Ground
Find out more about the creative process behind Common Ground by reading our interview series from the rehearsal room with the performers here.
4) Get dancing!
Feeling inspired? Get moving and get ready to experience contemporary dance by signing up to a dance class series. This May we have four different series on offer, our Complete Beginner, Contemporary Ballet, Improvisation, and 50+ series cater for all levels.
